# Smurfit Kappa to acquire Litbag to expand Bag-in-Box business in Southern Europe

Smurfit Kappa agreed to purchase Litbag, a Portuguese maker of multi-layer EVOH barrier films and a leader in the Portuguese wine packaging market, to strengthen its position in Southern Europe. Terms were not disclosed. The announcement was made on February 14, 2017.
