# GlobalWafers invests $438M in 300mm wafer capacity expansion in Korea

GlobalWafers Co., Ltd. has determined an investment of $438 million to its subsidiary MEMC Korea Company to expand 12-inch (300mm) wafer capacity at its existing plant in Cheonan, South Korea. The new line will start sample shipping by end of Q3 2019 and mass production in 2020, adding 150,000 wafers per month.
